This video is designed to help guide you through installing the PT-100 MPPT charge controller on a Magnum Panel using the charge controller bracket (included with MMP, MPSL, MPSH, and MPDH Panel Systems).
If mounting to a Magnum Panel using the charge controller bracket, the tools you will need are:
- A T15 Torx screwdriver
- A T20 Torx screwdriver
- A flathead screwdriver
- A hammer
- A 1” close nipple and up to three locknuts
To mount the PT-100 to the Magnum Panel using the bracket, first you’ll need to determine which side of the Magnum Panel you plan on mounting the charge controller and whether you’re going to use the upper or lower mounting holes to attach the bracket. This will all depend on your particular installation. In our example we will be mounting the PT-100 to the left of our enclosure and we will be using the upper mounting holes.
The PT-100 uses the uppermost mounting hole on the bracket, so we will pre-thread that hole using one of the T20 thread forming screws.
Next, we will attach the bracket to the Magnum Panel in the upper mounting holes using the two T15 screws provided.
Before you mount the PT-100 to the bracket, be sure to knockout the appropriate knockout hole on both the Magnum Panel and the PT-100. Add the close nipple and locknuts to provide a conduit run between the Panel and the controller, as well as the majority of the stability of the PT-100. Adding a standard 1” plastic bushing should be done to protect the wire insulation as it enters and exits the nipple.
Finally, attach the PT-100’s keyhole to the bracket using the T20 screw that we used to pre-thread the mounting hole.
Once this is mounted and secure, you can bring the PV and battery connections from the Magnum Panel into the PT-100.
