Get to Know the ME-AGS Auto Gen Start

Keep your living space cool and your batteries charged without supervision and without worry. This episode in the Magnum Energy video series introduces the features and options available on the ME-AGS, the Magnum Energy Auto Generator Start module. The ME-AGS monitors inside room temperature and low-battery conditions to start or stop your generator at the perfect moment, keeping your living space cool and comfortable even while you are away. Versatile and user-friendly, the ME-AGS is compatible with many generator models, including: Onan, Powertech, Generac, Westerbeke, Kohler, Honda, Northern Lights, and most portable generators with an electric start. Please refer to the ME-AGS owner’s manual for more in-depth information and check out Magnum’s set of custom wiring diagrams to help with installation.

Several adjustable settings come standard on the ME-AGS, which you can program to fit your current system: run time, start volts DC, start temp, quiet time, and 24 hour clock. Auto Gen Start settings do not interfere with the manual operation of your generator, however, so you can continue using an existing start/stop switch. Connecting the Magnum ME-ARC advanced remote unlocks even more features on the ME-AGS, including start and stop parameters based on battery voltage, time of day, AC load amps, exercise time, and state of charge (SOC).

The ME-AGS comes in two models, including a stand-alone version (ME-AGS-S) for energy systems that don’t require an inverter and a network version (ME-AGS-N) for operation through a Magnum remote panel, such as the ME-RC50. Compatible with other Magnum products, such as the ME, MM, MMS, MS, MS-PAE, and RD series, the ME-AGS is a flexible and worry-free solution for generator-supported energy systems.
